Enhanced Data Rate
EDR is an optional part of the Bluetooth specification that provides a faster data rate (speed) and in some cases improved battery life.
Because EDR is an optional part of the Bluetooth spec, not all Bluetooth devices support it. Whether a Bluetooth device supports EDR is independent of the Bluetooth version or the Bluetooth profiles it supports.
If - and only if - both Bluetooth devices in a Bluetooth data connection support EDR, EDR mode is used automatically.
